The Camp Fire: Phones, Fires and Failures -- March 10, 2020
Alan Thompson will present his acclaimed video talk on the wild fire that wiped out Paradise, CA. Sent to reconstruct cell phone service in the area, he discovered how our over-dependence on cell phones, land lines and the internet is misplaced in emergencies. The presentation will be on March 10 at 5:30pm at the Fire Fighters Memorial Hall behind the firehouse in Diamond Springs -- our Council's regular meeting place.
This is the first in a series of two presentations by Alan. This one outlines the communication problems. Alan suggests solutions in the second presentation on April 14 at the same time and venue. Visit Alan's Website for more details on both presentations.
